The nights are long, it’s cold outside…it’s the ideal time to learn how to knit something soft and warm

Activité pour 19+ – Bar payant ouvert – Apporter une collation sans noix

During this workshop, you will learn::

  • About the basic tools for knitting;
  • How to choose needles and yarn;
  • How to cast on;
  • How to make basic stitches;
  • How to follow a pattern;
  • How to start an easy pattern.
  • This workshop will take place in a cozy, friendly, and safe atmosphere. All materials are provided. 

Registration:

  • Option 1 – $5 Includes the workshop + use of our needles and yarn (which must be left here at the end of workshop)
  • Option 2 – $15- Workshop + leave with your needles and 1 ball of 50 g cotton yarn (colour of your choice)
  • Seating will be assigned according to bubbles. If you register with another member of your bubble, please let us know when registering and you will be assigned seats in the same capsule.. 

Run-down of activity:

  • 7pm- Presentation of basic tools
  • 7:15pm – Casting on
  • 7:30pm- Knitting
  • 7:45pm- Following a pattern
  • 8pm- Practicing techniques + help from volunteers + cash bar open

Knitting has been (re)developed into a trendy activity. But that’s not all: it would also be (very) good for our body and above all our mind. The proof is in the pudding. No, knitting is not a grandmother’s activity. While manual activities are becoming more and more common in our daily lives (and on our Pinterest and Instagram accounts), knitting would be a good example. Because in addition to keeping us busy, it would have unsuspected benefits. The proof is in the pudding. Knitting makes you happy (according to science): According to a 2013 study conducted by British physiotherapist Betsan Corkhill and published in the Journal of Occupational Therapy, knitting has the power to make you happy!
